I have a "Gearfried the Red-Eyes-Iron Knight" and a set "Blast with Chain". My opponent has a monster and "Creature Swap". My opponent activates "Creature Swap" and I chain "Blast with Chain" to target the "Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight". How does this chain resolve? Who gets to activate the trigger effect of "Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight"?

A: "Blast with Chain" resolves, equipping to Gearfried. Then "Creature Swap" moves Gearfried to the opponent's field. Now the player who currently controls "Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight" can trigger it's effect to destroy the equipped "Blast with Chain" and optionally another Spell/Trap on the field.

I have a set "Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight" and "Blast with Chain". The opponent attacks my set "Gearfried the Red-Eyes Iron Knight" with a much stronger monster. I want to activate "Blast with Chain" in the damage step and use Geafried to destroy it to trigger "Blast with Chain" to destroy the attacking monster. Can I do that, and how does it resolve?

A: The attack is declared. We enter Before Damage Calculation. Gearfried flips face-up from the attack. While still in Before Damage Calculation, you can activate "Blast with Chain" to target Gearfried. No response from either player, now "Blast with Chain" resolves and equips to Gearfried. Gearfried can then immediately trigger to destroy "Blast with Chain". Again, no response from either player, so this new chain resolves. Gearfried destroys "Blast with Chain", which then triggers in yet another new chain as Chain Link 1, targeting the opponent's Attacking Monster. Once more, no response from either player, so this chain resolves, destroying the targeted monster. With all the triggers out of the way, the game attempts to move to Perform Damage Calculation, which is then skipped because there is no more attacking monster. The Damage Step is now over.
